I didn’t even connect it to flow state! I’m so used to encountering flow state discourse in creative-professional contexts - acting, writing - that I forgot it can exist in leisure, too.
Re: Ancillary Justice. Also some of the best scifi I've read of any recent release. I think it is only second to the Wayfarer Series by Becky Chambers in that regard—and if you haven't read those four books, the series is structured Hain-style, where each may have some of the characters from the other books, but they are mostly set in different planets, ships, etc. across the universe.
