I have a piece up at Slate today—where I usually work on the editing side—and I would love for you to read it. It's the first thing I've published in maybe two years, and it feels really good to have some writing out in the world... but it would feel even better to have people read it, tbh! It's about how scientists look at the Earth as an exoplanet, and what we learn when they do: If the Earth Isn’t Special, Then the Whole Cosmos Is. You can also think of it as a bit of a book preview!
Like a teacher letting you start your homework reading before the bell, I'll tell you to go read that in lieu of a full newsletter today. But I'll also mention, speaking of the fact that I am an editor in addition to a writer: I've had some space open up in my schedule, and I'm taking a couple of new editing clients this month. It's room for a read of a book manuscript, or deeper developmental work on an essay or two. I have a bit more info at jaimegreen.net/editing, or you can just reply to me here.
Thank you for reading! Please pardon any typos or sentences that fade out half-way, they're what let me send this out free and weekly. If you enjoyed this newsletter and want to share it, or were forwarded this edition and want to subscribe, the link is tinyletter.com/jaimealyse. You can also follow me on twitter here, and when my book is done and ready to be preordered this is where I will tell you about that.
