car song, pickup song
Did I almost forget to send this newsletter? Yes! Routines are shot to hell trying to acclimate to "camp," the 4pm pickup, still no edits from my editor (soon, soon) so no book to work on, who even am I? I took the baby to the art museum after camp today, we found cows and doggies and he thought the fruit woven through a Kehinde Wiley portrait was basketballs, but then he understood "oranges" and thought he saw bananas, too.
Kehinde Wiley, Portrait of Toks Adewetan (The King of Glory), 2016
It does look like a banana below his elbow!
The museum seems to have no Clyfford Stills, always a mark against a museum, imo, though that's absolutely an unfair rating system. So here let's have a Still to make up for it:
Clyfford Still, PH-432, 1964
My fave.
Anyway, the baby keeps requesting "car song" and "pickup song" at bedtime, but all my songs are sea shanties or "The Downeaster Alexa," which might as well be. If you know any car songs or pickup songs that could work as lullabies, please let me know.
